The Franklin County High School girls soccer team beat the Coffee County Lady Raiders 8-0 at home Tuesday for the team’s fifth win of the season.
Franklin County scored early and often with seven different players contributing goals in the blowout district victory.
Osiris Rodriguez got the scoring started about six minutes into the contest as she put the ball into the net for her second goal of the season.
The next goal for Franklin County came about eight minutes later with Irene Marticorena tapping the ball in for a score after receiving a cross. The goal was her first of the year for Franklin County.
That started a flurry of goals for Franklin County with Libby Vincent being the next to score less than three minutes later on a long shot to make it a 3-0 game.
Ella Masters joined the list of scorers shortly afterward she fired a ball into the net with her fifth goal of the season growing the lead to 4-0.
Cali Banks got her first varsity goal off of a fortunate bounce as she hit a high shot off the bottom of the crossbar, and the ball deflected into the goal to put the lead at 5-0 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
The final goal of the half for Franklin County came with about 11 minutes remaining in the period as Bella Bravo received a pass from Baylor Russell and took the ball down the field before scoring on a breakaway for her second goal of the year.
Franklin County led 6-0 at halftime.
Franklin County continued to add to the lead in the second half with Danika Arellano finding the net with about 16 minute remaining for her second goal of the season.
Vincent would round out the scoring for the day as she notched a goal on a shot from just outside the goal box off of an assist from Marticorena with about 14 minutes remaining. The score was Vincent’s second of the day and fifth of the season.
Franklin County maintained its shutout for the rest of the contest as the team won by eight.
With the win, Franklin County improved to 5-3-2 on the season and 2-0 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at Warren County High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
