Coming off homecoming week for the Trojans, they faced the Peabody Golden Tide in an interesting non-region matchup. While it seemed Dyersburg would take care of the lower-classified team, they came up short with the final score being 42-14.

Trojan defense came out to play ball with an Austin Brooks’ interception to back it up, followed by a quarterback keeper in the endzone to take the first touchdown of the night. Moments later, Camarious Quinn goes 13 yards for a touchdown to give Dyersburg a 14-0 lead before first quarter winds down.

While it looked as if the Trojans would have an easy night, Peabody started responding with a 7-yard touchdown 3:30 into the second quarter from Billy Wilkins, followed by a 14-yard reception caught by Derek Kee to even the score with 4:33 left before half.

Following Brooks’ interception, Trojan quarterback John Morris Trowbridge (bottom left) punched it in for Dyersburg’s first points of the game on a 4th and goal play with 6:47 remaining in the first quarter. The Trojans led the Tide 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Peabody managed to get a score in from a 27-yard touchdown catch to Kylen Wade to put the Golden Tide up 21-14 before break.

Third quarter brought about two touchdowns from a quarterback keep on fourth down from the 4-yard line and another touchdown pass, from their 26-yard line, to Kee to make the lead 35-14. Kee scored the last touchdown to help give Peabody a 42-14 win.

Jaylen Jackson carried the ball for 80 rushing yards with Quinn behind him with 73 yards.

A swarm of Trojans makes their presence known to a Peabody ball carrier. Though Dyersburg held a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, the visiting Tide went into halftime with a 21-14 lead, ultimately defeating the Trojans 42-14.

Despite the loss, it is a non-region game and Bart Stowe and his crew have to adjust and gear up for a huge region game next week against Covington- a team they beat twice last year.

“We just have to focus on ourselves,” Stowe added.

They will have to travel to Covington to take the purple-and-gold Chargers on their homestand next Friday at 7 p.m.
