Though it was Homecoming with a full crowd at Eagle Stadium, the Obion County Rebels got the best of the Chester County Eagles and defeated them 37-29.
The Eagles got behind early on due to two early turnovers from interceptions.
Chester County never caught up to Obion. The closest score margin in the game was when the Eagles were down by three points toward the end of the first half.
However, before halftime, the Rebels were able to extend the lead before halftime to 24-14.
The Eagles now stand with a record of 3-3 with the other losses being versus Hardin County and Mckenzie.
Nonetheless, Head Coach Dewond Johnson told the team that their end of season goal is still possible: to have the first playoff game at Eagle Stadium.
In order to reach that goal, this week’s regional game against South Side is critical.
Head Coach Johson said that the team is doing the big things right but it is the little things that are hurting the team on the field.
“As I said at the beginning of the year, we do a lot of big things well. The little things are the ones getting us right now, and until we get those little things fixed, we will continue to struggle,” he said. “We must change. We must change our habits. We must change the way we go about doing things, and if we don’t we’re still going to struggle. I’ll put this team up against anybody. I love them to death. We’re talented, but we’ve got to do the little things right.”
