Franklin County's Ella Masters fires a shot toward the goal during a game Tuesday against Coffee County Central High School. Masters scored three goals in the 10-1 win.
The Franklin County High School girls soccer team beat the Coffee County Lady Raiders 10-1 at home Tuesday in a semifinal game for the District 6AAA tournament.
Franklin County dominated throughout and ended the contest a few minutes early via the mercy rule to move on to the district championship game for the fourth year in a row.
Ella Masters got the scoring started for Franklin County as she headed the ball into the net after receiving a corner kick from Osiris Rodriguez about seven minutes into the game.
Masters scored again three minutes later with another header off of a free kick from Haley Campbell to put the early lead at 2-0.
The next goal for Franklin County came on a shot by Libby Vincent as she scored on a breakaway after receiving a pass from Rodriguez with 18 minutes remaining in the first half.
Baylor Russell rounded out the first-half scoring for Franklin County as she received a pass from Vincent and scored on a breakaway with 13 minutes left in the period.
Franklin County led 4-0 at halftime.
Bella Bravo got the offense going in the second half as she knocked the ball into the net after it bounced off of the opposing goalkeeper to put the score at 5-0 with 30 minutes remaining. It was the fifth goal of the season for Bravo.
Masters completed her hat trick with 27 minutes remaining as she scored off an assist from Vincent to make it a 6-0 game. Masters has scored 12 goals so far this season for Franklin County.
Vincent added to the scoreboard just one minute later as she notched her second goal of the day and her ninth of the year to bring the deficit up to 7-0. Campbell provided an assist on the goal.
The Lady Raiders avoided the shutout as they scored with about 10 minutes remaining to make it a 7-1 game. The goal ended a streak of eight consecutive scoreless halves for Franklin County.
However, Franklin County got that goal back a few minutes later with Cali Banks scoring after receiving a pass from Russell. Banks scored again with five minutes remaining off an assist from Caitlyn Cashion as her fourth goal of the season brought the lead up to 9-1.
Franklin County wrapped up the game shortly after as Russell scored her second goal of the contest and her 11th of the season to trigger the mercy rule with 4:45 remaining.
With the win, Franklin County improved to 11-3-2 on the season.
The girls soccer team will next play Thursday at home against Shelbyville Central High School in the District 6AAA championship game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
