Oak Ridge four-star athlete Brandon Heyward announced his top eight schools including Tennessee.

The junior wide receiver’s list announced on Twitter on Wednesday also includes Missouri, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Cincinnati.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Heyward is the No. 7-rated prospect in the state of Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite

In September, Heyward told Knox News that the recruiting process was going well and that the pressure to “keep my name going up instead of going down” was not something he feels.

“I put the pressure on myself,” Heyward said. “Don’t worry about the people from the outside and what they say.”

Oak Ridge’s Brandon Heyward (13) is tackled by Powell’s Connor Wheeler (13) during a game between Powell and Oak Ridge at Powell, Friday, Sept. 30, 2022.

Oak Ridge coach Scott Cummings told Knox News last month that Heyward will likely play most as a slot receiver and potentially on defense.

"I do think Brandon is a slot on offense in college," Cummings said. “I think that's where his niche is because he is so strong also and he's such a great blocker too. They can get him you know, near the ball and to be able to block on the perimeter to help the run game in college to you know. Brandon is a tough guy.

“The interesting thing is Brandon, you know he doesn't practice it all the time, but he could be an incredible corner home on defense. I think you look at his, his skill set in his body type, I think, he could be a very high-level corner.”
