Despite a hard-fought effort, Cloudland was unable to get things going in the rain Friday night.

The ‘Landers saw the 2022 season come to a close with a 35-12 loss to Oliver Springs in the Class A playoffs at Orr Field.

Cloudland had to battle back from an early deficit as OS jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter with a pair of Kane Gouge passes. Gouge hit Nick Johnson for Johnson’s first touchdown catch of the year from eight yards out, and hit Dakota Adkins for a 66-yard score.

Cloudland got on the board as Gage McKinney scored from four yards out.

The ‘Landers, however, were unable to answer two Bobcat touchdowns as CHS trailed 28-6 at the half.
Cloudland looked poised to make a comeback in the third quarter.

The ‘Landers used a nine-play drive that featured runs from Cayden Clarke, Cam Peppers, and McKinney, and then scored when Clarke kept it for a 13-yard touchdown.

After Peppers jumped on an OS fumble on the next drive, Cloudland got back in scoring position to trim the lead to one possession, but an errant snap was recovered by the Bobcats to open the fourth.

The ‘Lander defense held strong on fourth down on the ensuing drive with Jacob Street leading the way.

However, CHS was stopped on fourth down as they were unable to trim the lead.

The Bobcats extended the lead with a 62-yard run from Jaxon Jett midway through the quarter.

Cloudland continued to battle but was unable to close the gap.

McKinney finished with 48 carries on 176 yards, while Clarke had five carries for 36 yards.

Jett led OS with 94 yards, while Gouge was 4-of-6 for 114 yards.
