Three Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athletes competed in the 2022 USA Swimming Speedo Winter Junior Championships- EAST last week held at the Greensboro Aquatics Center in Greensboro, NC. This is one of the top swimming competitions in the country on an annual basis for swimmers eighteen-years-old and under. Baylor Swim Club athletes competing in the junior national meet were Sam Flack, Josean Massucco, and Luke Waldrep.
Leading the way for the Baylor Swim Club were some impressive swims from seniors Sam Flack and Josean Massucco. Sam Flack took fifth overall in the 1650-yard freestyle (15:08.31), and he also claimed 9th in the 500-yard freestyle (4:21.48) winning the B-Final. Massucco was equally impressive as he swam to a seventh-place overall finish in the 200-yard butterfly clocking a time of 1:46.59. He also finished 15th in the 400-yard IM (3:54.47). In his first Winter Junior Championships, Luke Waldrep swam to new personal best times in the 200-yard butterfly (1:53.52) 400-yard IM (4:01.32) and 1650-yard freestyle (16:09.06).
