McCallie defended their home mat Thursday with a win over visiting Boyd Buchanan by a slim 39-35 margin.
The Bucs started out strong at 170 pounds as Caiden Bates pinned the Blue Tornado’s Teddy Wingfield at the 1:31 mark, but a pair of forfeits at the upper weight classes saw Boyd down 16-6.
Boyd Buchanan took two additional matches by fall, one at 138 by Carter Rowlett and the second by Conor Payne at 145, McCallie’s Axel Ruthie won by a pn at 106 and T.J. Usher took a pin at 120.
The Tornado got a technical fall by Nicholas Ridings at 152 to go up 39-32. The Bucs’ A.J. Johnson closed out the scoring with a 10-7 decision over James Cross at 160 to give the final margin of victory to McCallie.
