Knoxville-area high school boys basketball rankings: There is a new No. 1

Here’s the top 10 Knoxville-area boys' high school basketball teams ranked by Knox News.

1. Fulton (21-5): Fulton ended the regular season with a “measuring-stick win” over Oak Ridge, last week's No. 1 team. The Falcons claim the top spot as they are at full strength with junior Taj Kimber, scored 18 points against Oak Ridge, who is back from a broken wrist that kept him out for six weeks. Last Week: Ranked No. 3.

2. William Blount (24-4): William Blount won its two games this week against Farragut and Powell. The Governors' overtime win against Farragut featured a clutch performance from junior Caden Windle who scored 34 points. Last Week: Ranked No. 2.

3. Oak Ridge (22-4): Oak Ridge lost its top ranking after losing to Fulton 55-42 on Saturday. The Wildcats trailed by nearly 20 points for the majority of the game. Last Week: Ranked No. 1.

4. Webb (21-7): Webb bounced back from its 48-46 loss to Baylor by winning three straight games. This includes a 48-46 overtime win against Division II-AA East rival Knoxville Catholic on Saturday. Last Week: Ranked No. 6.

5. Knoxville Catholic (18-7): The Irish are on a three-game losing streak and lost two games this week to Division II-AA East opponents in Baylor and Knoxville Webb. Last Week: Ranked No. 4.

6. Austin East (20-6): The Roadrunners end their regular season with an eight-game win streak. They closed out with impressive wins over West (18-8) and Gatlinburg-Pittman (18-7). Last Week: Ranked No. 10.  

7. Hardin Valley (21-8): Hardin Valley closes its regular season on a two-game losing streak. The Hawks lost 57-50 to Maryville on Tuesday and 79-73 to West on Friday. HVA will play its first District 4-4A tournament game against Heritage on Thursday. Last Week: Ranked No. 5.

8. Karns (21-7): Karns drubbed Clinton 81-54 on Monday and beat Sevier County 76-74 on Friday. Senior JJ Faulkner scored 30 points against Clinton and had 23 points, seven assists and two steals, including a game-winner against Sevier County on Friday. Last Week: Ranked No. 7.

9. Alcoa (20-8): Jahvin Carter had one of the best games in Alcoa's basketball history, scoring 62 points in a win against Cumberland Gap on Tuesday. That was followed up with a 54-51 win versus Maryville on Friday. Last Week: Ranked No. 8.

10. Farragut (18-11): The Admirals pushed William Blount to overtime on Tuesday which snapped their five-game win streak. Farragut has the second-best district record in District 4-4A. Last Week: Ranked No. 9.
