CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Academy boys’ basketball clinched a regional championship victory on Saturday, Feb. 18, after defeating The Webb School.

The Cougars defeated Webb 73-62. The Clarksville-area team looks to compete for the Division II-A state championship once again after coming up just short last season during their final four run.

The Cougars have been led by first-year head coach Matt Hoppe, who serves as the school’s athletic director as well. During his first season with the team, he’s helped lead them to an overall record of 25-8 and has set them up in a great position in the playoffs.

A large part of their success also comes from the maturity and experience of their team, but in particular the two-time Mr. Basketball finalist and Morehead State commit Eddie Ricks. Ricks has been one of the best high school basketball players in the nation, and the centerpiece for the Cougars throughout the year.
