JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Science Hill plated five runs in the first and six in the second and went on to an 11-1 run-rule decision over Knox Central in its 2023 home-opener Wednesday afternoon at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.

Seven different ‘Toppers drove in runs on the day led by Sam Lane who went 3-for-3 with three RBI’s. Nate Conner roped a two-run homer in the first and scored twice on the day. Jet Swartz also plated a pair of runs.

Major Osbolt, Jackson Berry and Landon Smelser all scored twice and brought home a single run.

Three Science Hill pitchers combined on the shutout. Noah Hazell started and worked three no-hit innings on only 33 tosses, striking out three.

Freshman Cole ReSue made his varsity debut by working the fourth, allowing one hit, one walk and fanning two. Michael Francis came on in the fifth and did the same while being touched for an unearned Bobcat run.

Science Hill (2-0) is back in action in the Playing for A Cure Classic Thursday afternoon against McMinn County at Jefferson County High School.
