MHS’ Lynch Signs To Swim At King University

by Rusty Ellis

Monterey senior swimmer Gracie Lynch became the first swimmer in program history to sign an NLI on Thursday morning, as she officially committed to King University.

It’s a momentous day for Lynch, as it’s a day she says she’s been waiting on for a long time.

“It feels great, this has been my dream for years now,” Lynch said. “It’s just amazing to finally sign it off.”

Lynch says she prioritized her faith when it came to looking for her next home, and it was one of the many things she felt King provided for her.

“What was really important to me was having a good Christian base,” Lynch said. “The coach reached out to me first, and he told me about the school and it was important to him that I felt comfortable with the school. I went and toured it, and it was great, It’s got about 2,000 students, so that’s perfect for me.”

Lynch says she’s got plenty of memories that she’ll look back on fondly, and she’s equally as excited for her new journey as she is sad to leave both Monterey and the CHS team.

“I’m going to miss my team, but I’m excited to meet new people and have a new life outside of Putnam County,” Lynch said. “I’m excited to just make myself.”
