KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Lacrosse boasts a rich, vast history.

First and foremost, it is the oldest team sport in North America, with a lineage dating back more than a millennium. It was originated by Native Americans, who referred to lacrosse as “little brother of war” because, in part, it served as a form of military training. The sport of lacrosse we know today lacks those martial overtones–or the high level of violence that embodied lacrosse games centuries ago.

Still, even the history of modern lacrosse dates back decades. Before embarking on an NFL Hall of Fame career, Jim Brown terrorized the lacrosse field much in the same way he did the gridiron at Syracuse.

Lacrosse is growing… and so is the Tribe Lacrosse program.
