Hampton was unable to keep up with top-seeded North Greene on Monday night despite a hard-fought effort.

The Lady Bulldogs came up short in a 10-0 decision to the Lady Huskies in the District 1-A Softball tournament on Stoney Creek.

With the loss, Hampton will take on Cloudland on Wednesday in an elimination game, while North Greene will take on Unaka in the Winners’ Bracket finale.

Hampton saw Ryleigh Nickles hit a single in the opening frame, but HHS was unable to move the runner. North Greene plated three runs in the home side of the inning to take a 3-0 lead after one.

After the second inning went quietly, Hampton saw Lacey Smith open the third with a leadoff single. The Lady Bulldogs, however, were unable to plate the run.

North Greene added two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.

Hampton continued to battle but was unable to break onto the scoreboard.

Smith and Nickles had a hit a piece for Hampton. Cheyenne Fair struck out five batters.

For North Greene, Cambell Gaby struck out 14 batters. Abby Weems had three hits.
