Lady Commanders play in Jackson Friday

Friendship Christian’s softball team will carry a record of 24-8 into play Friday afternoon as the Lady Commanders travel to Madison County to take on Jackson Christian in a Division II-A State XII contest

A 5 p.m. first pitch is planned with the winner advancing to the State Quarterfinals May 23-26 at TSSAA Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.

Goodpasture 13, Friendship 2
LEBANON – Goodpasture Christian School hung a 13-2 run-rule loss on Friendship Christian Friday in the consolation round of the Division II-A softball sectional tournament.

Goodpasture led 12-0 before FCS could muster two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Bell Nokes had two of Friendship’s four hits, a double and a single, and Gabby Lowe added an RBI single.

Pitcher Charley Clark gave up nine hits and five earned runs over three innings and was tagged with the loss.

Friendship 3, Davidson Academy 1
LEBANON – Friendship Christian took an early 3-0 lead and held off Davidson Academy in the later innings for a 3-1 home win over the Lady Bears Friday in the loser’s bracket of the Division II-A Middle Region Tournament.

Isabella Wilson went the distance for the Lady Commanders, allowing just four hits and striking out five.

DA’s run came in the fourth inning on a solo homer by Sophie Harris.

Wilson helped her own cause with an RBI double and a single while Deshea Oakley added an RBI single.
