CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High won a three-game series against Arlington on Friday to move on to the state baseball tournament.

After Arlington evened up the series on Thursday, the Wildcats came out eager to take game three in Arlington. Clarksville High played at a high level on offense and defense, which led them to win 9-3.

CHS had their offense rolling throughout the game, which included five players having multi-hit performances.

Clarksville High catcher Korbin Reynolds led his team in hits and runs batted in on the night. Reynolds finished the game 3 for 4 with a double and 3 runs batted in.

Here are some of the other Wildcats who stood out on the offensive side of the ball:

  • Kirk Weatherford – 2 for 2 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 run batted in
  • Layton Trice – 2 for 4 with 2 runs batted in
  • James Dalrymple – 2 for 4 with a double and 1 run scored
  • Gavin Dufault – 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 run batted in

CHS scored 8 out of their 9 runs after the third inning of action. At that point in the game, they were losing 1-3 after a rough first inning by Brady Davis.

However, after the first inning, Davis settled in and dominated his opponents from start to finish. He went on to throw for a complete game. He limited Arlington to only 5 hits, 3 earned runs and 2 walks allowed. Davis also struck out 6 batters.

After this week, the Wildcats are the last Clarksville-area baseball team remaining. Rossview High had their season come to an end after losing a three-game series to Collierville.

According to the TSSAA, Clarksville High (33-7) will face off against Stewarts Creek (29-7) during the opening round of the state tournament. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, with first pitch taking place at 4 p.m in Murfreesboro.
