MURFREESBORO — Upperman rallied from a 6-0 third-inning deficit to beat Tennessee High 8-6 on Wednesday at Blackman High School, knocking the Vikings out of the TSSAA Class 3A baseball tournament.
Andrew Dingus singled home a run in the first inning before doubling in two more in the third. Bralyn Price’s RBI double and Isaac Blevins’ sacrifice fly put the Vikings (27-7) ahead by six.
But Upperman (29-10) scored five runs in the home half and three in the fourth inning, taking a 7-6 lead on Caden Shanks’ two-run bomb.
Rylan Henard, Evan Mutter, Gage Graziano, Dingus and Price each had two hits for the Vikings. Julian Llano went 3-for-4 to lead the Bees.
Mutter and Dingus hit back-to-back solo home runs in the first inning to kick-start Tennessee High’s 13-3 win over South Gibson on Wednesday morning.
Henard went the distance and got the six-inning win. He gave up six hits, struck out five and walked one.
Mutter went 4-for-5 and finished just a triple shy of the cycle. Blevins was 3-for-3 and Ashton Leonard hit a leadoff triple in the first. Leonard and Dingus had two hits apiece.
Greeneville 7, Greenbrier 0
MURFREESBORO — Parker Shipley pitched a two-hit shutout and went 3-for-4, helping the Greene Devils move within one win of the Class 3A championship game.
Shipley struck out 15 in the complete-game victory. He walked just three.
After three scoreless innings, Greeneville (34-3) scored four runs in the fourth, jump-started by Colton Richards' two-RBI double. Carson Quillen, who also doubled, and Kobe Mundy each went 2-for-3.
Chilhowie 5, Thomas Walker 0
EWING — Dawson Tuell tossed a three-hit shutout to lead Chilhowie past Thomas Walker in the opener of the Region 1D baseball tournament.
Tuell struck out three and walked one.
Connor Smith and Brandon Bush both doubled in runs before Noah Hill hit a solo shot.
Jordan Bertram doubled and Adam Hollandsworth and Malachi Langley added singles for Thomas Walker (10-13). Cameron Grabeel struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings.
Chilhowie (16-7) visits Honaker on Friday in the quarterfinals.

Richlands 2, John Battle 0
RICHLANDS — Addy-Lane Queen recorded two first-half goals and Richlands topped John Battle in a Region 2D quarterfinal match at Ernie Hicks Stadium.
Richlands advanced to next week’s semifinals at Wise Central. Richlands will play the winner between Central and Tazewell on Tuesday, May 30.
