Matthew Dallas is going to pitch for Tennessee baseball, he told Knox News on Monday.

The Briarcrest Christian pitcher is one of the top players in Tennessee's recruiting class and was a top-250 MLB Draft prospect, according to MLB.com. Dallas indicated to Knox News he will come to school midway through the second day of the 2023 MLB Draft on Monday. He was not selected in the draft, which concluded Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher posted a 0.80 ERA with 102 strikeouts in 52⅔ innings as a senior at Briarcrest Christian outside Memphis. He was 2-2 with 74 strikeouts as a junior.

Dallas has a projectable frame and the pitches to match. He throws in the low-90s with good offspeed pitches, most notably his changeup. Dallas will be eligible for the 2025 MLB Draft after two seasons at UT.

Dallas started the gold medal game for Team USA U18 in 2022, throwing 3⅓ innings with three strikeouts against Chinese Taipei. He allowed an unearned run.

Dallas' older brother, Michael, signed with Kentucky out of high school. He transferred to Jacksonville State, where he hit .256 in 25 games as a sophomore in 2023. His other older brother, Blake, played college baseball at Christian Brothers University.
