Bulldogs, Cyclones Remain Ranked In AP Prep Football Poll

A pair of Carter County teams remain ranked in the second AP Tennessee Prep Football poll after Week 2 action.

In Class 4A, Elizabethton took sole possession of the No. 3 spot after dispatching Morristown West on Friday night. The Cyclones tallied 166 points to come in 18 points No. 2 Pearl-Cohn. Greeneville remained at No. 1.

Upperman and Haywood County rounded out the top five.

In Class 2A, Hampton came in at No. 8 in this week’s poll. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 4 last week.

Hampton tallied 75 points – just five points behind No. 7 Huntingdon and 11 points behind No. 6 Marrion County. Riverside and Milan remain ranked No. 1 and No. 2.

In Class A, Cloudland received votes but fell out of the top 10 after last week’s heartbreaking loss to West Greene.

The ‘Landers were just one point behind No. 10 Gordonsville.
