The Trousdale County High School boys basketball team fell behind early on and couldn’t keep up with visiting Red Boiling Springs on Wednesday evening, suffering a 58-43 loss.

The Yellow Jackets suffered a 66-41 loss when the two teams played in Red Boiling Springs on Dec. 1.

In the rematch, behind six first-quarter points from senior Dalton Stafford, TCHS trailed by just a point (11-10) after one period of play.

However, the Yellow Jackets — who were playing for the first time following a 12-day layoff — produced just seven points in the second stanza and trailed 23-17 by halftime.

RBS senior Colton Copas scored 10 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter, helping to extend the lead to 12 points (41-29) entering the final period.

Fellow Bulldogs seniors Joe Birdwell and Maxie Wilson joined Copas in double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Trousdale County senior Kobyn Calhoun scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the second half.

Classmate Jake Fergusson provided eight points, and Stafford and fellow seniors Cole Gregory and Titus Mitchell all scored six points.

Junior teammate T.C. Rotella contributed two points.

The Yellow Jackets fell to 6-11.

Trousdale County played at Westmoreland on Friday evening and will travel to Jackson County on Monday evening before hosting Smith County on Thursday and White House Heritage on Friday.
