CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Montgomery Central boys varsity wrestling team set big goals. “We’ve wanted to reach State Duals as a team,” said assistant coach Derek Levendusky. “We fell one match short but we’re proud of how far we’ve come. Our program has never made it this far.”

The Indians team reached the finals in both District and Regionals, falling to Fairview in both matches, but earning TSSAA runner-up plaques at both events. They’re the first in team history ever to make it that far. Last Saturday, with a berth to the state tournament on the line, the squad traveled to Memphis to face off against Millington in a sectional qualifier, a team they’d beaten earlier in the season. In the end, it was Millington who prevailed, with a 40-29 win over the Clarksville area program.

Winning matches against Millington were junior Wilson Troyani at 106, a 15-1 victory, junior Craig Sudderth with a pin at 132 against a top sectional opponent, junior Jeremy Mills at 138 with a 5-2 win, senior Reese Levendusky at 144 with an 11-1 major decision, sophomore Josh Hodges at 175 with a pin, and junior Immanuel Gilmore at 190 with another pin.
