CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northwest High School was the host for the district 14-4A semifinals between the four-seeded Vikings and the top seeded West Creek High Coyotes. While Northwest battled as the underdog, West Creek emerged as the winner in a close game. With the 68-63 win, the Coyotes advanced to only their third district title game in school history.

Early in the game, the Coyotes were scoring with consistency, but it was their defense that made the difference in the first half. West Creek held Northwest to only 9 points in the first quarter of action and 22 points total in the first half.

In the second half, West Creek’s forward duo of Kamden Murray and Damond Galbreath took over the game. Not only were they scoring with efficiency, but they were collecting rebounds with a sense of urgency.

West Creek went on to hit their free throws late in the game and pulled away for the 68-63 win. Following the loss, Northwest High will play in the 3rd place game on Tuesday against Dickson County High School.

Meanwhile, West Creek advances to the district 14-4A championship on Tuesday night where they’ll play Kenwood High. As the Coyotes prepare for the district title game, they will look to win their first district championship since the 2011 season.
