Elizabethton took care of business Friday night.

The Lady Cyclones pulled away to take a 63-44 victory over Grainger in the Region 1-3A Quarterfinals inside Treadway Gymnasium.

With the win, Elizabethton advances to Monday night’s Region 1-3A semifinal at Claiborne County where they will take on Volunteer.

Points were hard to come by in the opening quarter.

Peyton McGee and Marlee Mathena hit early 3-pointers to give EHS a 6-3 lead in the opening minutes. After Grainger got on the board in the closing minute of the first quarter, Mathena added a shot at the buzzer to send Elizabethton into the second quarter with an 8-4 lead.

Reily Whitson hit a 3-pointer to open the second quarter for the Orange and Black, and that started an 18-2 Elizabethton run as the Lady Cyclones took full control.

EHS led 28-12 at the half.

The second half was much the same as Elizabethton was able to keep the Lady Grizz at bay.

The Lady Cyclones maintained a 47-32 advantage after three complete quarters and were never challenged in the fourth.

Michelle Shields led Elizabethton with 19 points, while McGee ended the game with 11 points.

Mathena tossed in nine points.

Addison Brickley led Grainger with 14 points.
