Lady Warriors Come Up Short In Upset Bid At Alcoa

Happy Valley was unable to extend their season on Friday night.

The Lady Warriors dropped a hard-fought 64-37 decision to Alcoa in the Region 1-2A Quarterfinals at Alcoa. The Lady Tornadoes were the top seed from District 2, and advanced to the Region 1-2A semifinals.

Alcoa jumped out early.

Cayden Anderson scored four first-quarter points for the Lady Warriors, but Alcoa was unable to take a 16-4 lead after eight minutes of play.

The Lady Warriors, however, kept battling as Ashlyn Sommers and Marcida Moore reached the scorebook.
Alcoa led 26-13 at the break.

In the second quarter, both teams saw the offense crank up, but HV was unable to make a dent in the deficit. Alcoa limited HV to just five points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Anderson led HV with 19 points, while Moore had 10 points. Sommers added six points.

Jacy Cox led Alcoa with 14 points.
