Lady ‘Landers Roll Into Region 1-A Championship Game

Cloudland took care of business in the Region 1-A Semifinals.

The Lady ‘Landers rolled to a 49-19 victory over Cosby on Monday night in the Region 1-A Semifinals at Cosby. With the win, Cloudland advanced to Wednesday’s Region 1-A Championship game against the winner of Tuesday night’s North Greene and Washburn game.

Cloudland also secured a berth in Saturday’s Class A Sectional.

The Lady ‘Landers overcame Cosby trying to bring the game to a crawl in the opening quarter.

Makinna Shell scored the game’s opening points nearly two minutes into the game. Neither team was able to get on the board until the final minute when Izabella Christman and Shell scored to push the CHS lead to 7-0 after a quarter of play.

Alexis Mcgaha hit a 3-pointer for the Lady Eagles to open the second-quarter scoring, and the Lady ‘Landers kept Cosby off the board the rest of the half.

Ryan Turbyfill drained a trey to spark a 10-0 Cloudland run that included points from Makenzie Street, Shell, and Christman.

The Lady ‘Landers led 17-3 at the break.

In the third quarter, Cloudland took full control.

Saharra McKinney and Turbyfill hit back-to-back shots to open the third and Cloudland pushed the lead to 24-5 in the opening minutes of the quarter

Cosby was able to get some offense going, but the Lady ‘Landers pushed the lead out to 35-14 after three complete quarters.

Cloudland left no doubt in the fourth as the Lady ‘Landers reeled off six straight points to open the quarter.

Shell led Cloudland with 19 points. Christman ended the game with 10 points, while Turbyfill had eight points.

Street added seven points.

Mcgaha had six points to lead Cosby, while Ariel Ottinger and Addy Woods had four points apiece.
