0 0

Goodpasture came up short in its bid for a first gold ball while only two area teams were able to secure spots in next week’s Division I state tournaments. A mass of unexpected losses and wins caused quite a shakeup in this week’s large and small class girls rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Rankings are based on overall success current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.

With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class girls rankings:

Large Class

1. Clarksville (31-0): With wins over Dickson County (72-24), Rossview (58-43) and Collierville (62-51), the Lady Wildcats are headed back to Murfreesboro. Up next, a highly-anticipated meeting with top-ranked Bradley Central.

2. Blackman (18-9): The Lady Blaze beat Lebanon 43-38 and Oakland 41-36 to set up a highly anticipated substate meeting with Cleveland. They couldn’t punch their ticket back to the state tournament though falling to the Lady Blue Raiders 40-38.

3. Beech (22-9): In a region full of talented teams, the Lady Bucs came out on top beating Hillsboro 56-44 and Hendersonville 52-46. They couldn’t carry that momentum into their substate against Lincoln County though losing 55-39.

4. Hillsboro (20-5): It was a premature end to what was a fun ride for the Lady Burros as Beech knocked them out in the Region 6-4A semis 56-44.
