After a 9-17 finish in their last season in 1A, the Hampton Bulldogs will face a bigger challenge moving to 1AA. The team may be better suited to handle the challenge as several youngsters have gained experience.

“As far as the things we can control, we have had tremendous practices,” head coach Nicholas Perkins said. “As a team we have great work ethic and I am getting contributions from my assistant coaches. The pitching will be a staff job as we open 2024 I think Chance Point has the best stuff but Jaden Kuhn is in the rotation and he will do some catching and play shortstop.”

Point will be the main catcher and senior Geno Carrico will man first base. The other known position players are Elisha Henson who is penciled in in right field with Gabriel Lyons slated for centerfield.

As a team the Bulldogs have just two seniors on the roster, Point and Carrico and the remainder of the squad is underclassmen that have gained game experience and are ready for the challenges ahead.

At the two A level Hampton will face South Greene, West Greene, Chuckey-Doak, Happy Valley and Johnson County in conference competition.
