The Lady Wildcats softball team hosted Webb for their second game of the season and won 12-1.
Prior to the game, the THS softball program welcomed Madison Barnett to throw out the first pitch. Maddie was a 2020 graduate of Tullahoma High School and she has continued her playing career at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Her high school senior season was cut short due to the pandemic. Barnett boasted a career ERA of 0.27 with 146 strikeouts in 204 innings pitched. The 2020 team was off to a 2-0 start before the season was cancelled. So far in her career at Lee Barnett has struck out 259 hitters in 351 innings pitched and she has 1 year of eligibility left at Lee University. Maddie is currently fighting a battle against Ewing Sarcoma. Barnett threw 2 pitches, Kylee Holt caught the first pitch and ran the ball to Maddie in the circle. Barnett stayed in the circle while her THS softball teammates and other THS softball alumni joined her on the field. She threw a second pitch to Jessica (Tank) Edde. Edde was Barnett’s catcher for four years at Tullahoma High School and is currently the starting catcher at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
Amaya Sharp started pitching for the Lady ‘Cats. She struck out six batters in three innings. Just one run scored in her three innings pitched. Anzley Holloway took the mound in the fourth inning and got three outs on 15 pitches. She faced five batters. Holloway struck out two and allowed one hit.
Tullahoma got on base 17 times in four innings. Six different Lady Wildcats got a hit, with eight total hits. Holt and Madison Goad led the way with two hits each. Kaitlynn Gattis, Margaret Lynch, Miaha Johnson and Aleigha Raby each had a hit. Gattis and Goad both had a double. Holt, Addyson Norman, Gattis, Sara Tate, Olivia Lynch, Elizabeth Simpson, Brinley Gillam and Margaret Lynch drew a walk. Holt was speeding around the bases as she stole three bags. Norman and Goad both stole a base as well.
The Lady Wildcats game at South Pittsburg scheduled for tonight was cancelled. They host Coffee County on Sunday at 3 p.m.
