BRISTOL, Va. — West Ridge hurler Miranda Henley pitched a complete game, allowing four hits while striking out six in the Lady Wolves’ tough 6-1 interstate softball win on Wednesday at John S. Battle.
Cassidy Good was 3-for-4, all singles, with an RBI to lead West Ridge. Kami Clark added two hits for the Lady Wolves.
Eden Wallace, Katie Barrett, Parker Elton and Madison Bowery accounted for the Lady Trojans’ four hits.
EASTSIDE 3, LETCHER CENTRAL 1
WHITESBURG, Ky. — The Lady Spartans trailed for most of the game but put up three runs in the top of the sixth inning to come away with the road win.
Eastside starting pitcher Braelynn Hall struck out nine before Emma Sartin came on in the fifth and earned the win. Haley Frazier had two hits for Eastside, and Taylor Clay and Hall each had an RBI.
LEE HIGH 6, VOLUNTEER 5
BEN HUR — Lee High took the lead in the fifth inning on a Chloe Bledsoe RBI single and Avery Weston worked through control problems to secure the complete-game win for the Lady Generals.
In addition to her RBI single in the fifth inning, Bledsoe hit a two-run home run. She finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
SULLIVAN EAST 5, HAPPY VALLEY 1
ELIZABETHTON — Olivia Ashbrook rapped out a pair of singles and drove in a run to lead the Lady Patriots. Six other East players finished with one hit apiece.
Juley Niemesnki had a triple for the Lady Warriors, whose other five hits were singles.
Raquel Del Parte recorded the complete-game win, striking out eight.
BASEBALL
UNION 17, J.I. BURTON 6
NORTON — Union grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back in the runaway nondistrict win.
The Bears went on to score five runs in the second and eight runs in the third, mercy-ruling the Raiders in five frames.
Eli Pleasant went 3-for-4 with a walk and four RBIs to pace the Bears’ offensive onslaught.
CASTLEWOOD 4, RIDGEVIEW 3
CASTLEWOOD — Aden Phillips was the hero for the Blue Devils in the nondistrict matchup after coming through with a two-out walk-off double.
Jared Glovier and Xavier Sanders added an RBI apiece for Castlewood.
The Wolfpack finished with only three hits, but Brant Mullins, Alan Mullins and Jordan Barton recorded an RBI apiece.
