We’re putting a bow on the girls’ basketball season with the first-ever 615 Preps all-area girls’ basketball teams.
We released the large class teams earlier. Now it’s time to look at the small class teams. The 615 Preps small class coverage area includes teams in Division II-A as well as Classes 2A and 1A.
Including the player of the year and coach of the year selections, here are this year’s first, second, and third team 615 Preps all-area girls small class teams.
Player of the Year
Daisy Gale, PCA, Sr.
Gale was one of the most efficient scorers in the state this season regardless of class. A DII-A Miss Basketball finalist, she played a pivotal role in leading the Lady Lions to being one of the state’s top-ranked teams most of the year.
She finished her senior season averaging 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals per game.
Coach of the Year
Taylor Clay, Goodpasture
If not for a historic second-half performance from USJ’s Haylen Ayers, Clay would have led the Lady Cougars to their first-ever gold ball.
They came up short in a triple-overtime classic instead bringing home silver in their first state championship appearance. In just his second year leading the program, Clay led Goodpasture to a 25-4 record.
