On Monday, the CCCHS Lady Raiders played three games in the Gulf Shores Tournament, losing their first two, but ending the day with a win.
CCCHS Lady Raiders: 1, Hewitt-Trussville Huskies: 2
In the first game of the day, the Lady Raiders were pitted against the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies from Trussville, Alabama.
Offense was a little hard to come by through the first inning, then the Huskies broke through for the first run of the game in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The Huskies would score once more in the top of the third inning to lead 2-0 before Coffee County scored in the bottom of the third with Chesnie Cox on a Paisley Campbell sacrifice fly to center field, making the score 2-1.
However, it wouldn’t be enough and the Lady Raiders would lose their first game of the tournament.
Channah Gannon would register the only hit for Coffee County and Lily Norman would be credited with the loss in the circle, pitching four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out two batters and walking three on 71 pitches.
CCCHS Lady Raiders: 2, Wicksburg Panthers: 7
In their second game of the day, Coffee County would face off against the Wicksburg Panthers from Newton, Alabama.
The Panthers would score first, leading the game 1-0 after the first inning, then Coffee County tied things up in the top of the second inning with Jalyn Moran scoring on a Riley Phillips double.
The Lady Raiders would take the lead in the top of the third as Savannah Cooper scored on a Paisley Campbell double to make the score 2-1, however, the Panthers pounced back in the bottom of the third, scoring four runs to take a 5-2 lead.
Wicksburg would add another two runs to their score in the bottom of the fourth inning and go on to win, 7-2.
Paisley Campbell and Riley Phillips both had an RBI on one hit for Coffee County while Ella Arnold, Jalyn Moran and Kara Wheeler each had a hit.
Yeidy Cruz would take the loss in the circle, pitching over three innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out three batters and walking two on 64 pitches.
CCCHS: 5, Normal West Wildcats: 1
The final game of the Monday slate for Coffee County would pit them against the Normal West Wildcats of Normal, Illinois.
For the first two innings, the game would be scoreless, then the Lady Raiders scored three runs in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead.
The Wildcats would get on the board in the bottom of the third inning but Coffee County scored two more times in the top of the fourth and went on to win, 5-1 and put an end to their four game skid.
Madison Pruitt and Haleigh Skipper each had an RBI on one hit, Lily Norman had three hits, Maggie Montgomery had two hits and Kaylee Buckley and Chesnie Cox each had one hit.
Norman would get the win in her second start of the day, pitching four innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out five batters and walking one on 68 pitches.
The Lady Raiders are now 7-4 on the season and will continue playing in the Gulf Shores Tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 26 against Hackleburg.
