Happy Valley 15, Hampton 2
The Lady Warriors methodically pulled away for a county win on Thursday afternoon.

HV scored three runs in the first before adding a single run in the second.

The Lady Bulldogs plated a run in the top of the third, but HV stopped the Hampton rally with seven runs in the home side of the frame.

Aleah Grindstaff had three RBI for HV, while Makayla Miller and Alex Moore had two hits and two RBI. Kierra Reece added a hit and two RBI.

Mallory Lamb went 2-for-3 for the Lady Bulldogs, while Maleah Scalf added a hit and an RBI.

Twin Springs (Va.) 7, Cloudland 0
The Lady ‘Landers came up short on the road Thursday evening.

Layken Blair was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Savannah McCoury, Bethany Sluder, and Jayla Harper each added a hit.

Baseball
Avery County 22, Hampton 13
The Bulldogs came up short in a high-scoring affair on Thursday afternoon.

Hampton took an early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second but was unable to answer a strong fourth and fifth innings from the Vikings.

Chase Davenport was 4-for-5 with three RBI, while Noah Nichols added three hits. Jayden Kuhn added two hits and two RBI, while Elisha Henson added two RBI.

Landon Buchanan also added two hits for the Bulldogs.

Hampton 16, Unaka 6
Hampton pulled away in the fourth inning to take a county win in the nightcap at Hampton.

After Hampton took a 3-2 lead in the first inning, the teams swapped scores in the second to head into the third tied at 5-5.

Hampton plated four runs in the bottom of the third and added seven more in the fourth to take control and the win.

Chance Point and Chase Davenport had two hits and two RBI apiece, while Jayden Kuhn and Elisha Henson had three RBI.

Geno Carrico also recorded two hits.

Johnson County 17, Cloudland 6
The ‘Landers were unable to over a big second inning by the Longhorns.

Johnson County scored 10 runs in the second to take an early lead. Cloudland continued to battle but was unable to rally back.

Bryson Peppers and Brayden Whitaker had two RBI apiece for Cloudland.

FCA Flames 5, Happy Valley 4
The Warriors came up on the wrong side of a walk-off on Thursday.

After the Warriors held a 4-2 lead heading to the seventh inning, the Flames were able to plate three runs with one out in the home side of the inning to take the win.

Drew Blevins had two hits while Colton Johnson tallied two RBI and a hit. Cade Kendall added a hit and an RBI for the Warriors.

Dakota Grindstaff and Levi Taylor each had a hit for HV.
