The Franklin County Rebelettes beat the Ooltewah Lady Owls 17-16 on the road Saturday in their fourth and final game for the Ooltewah Invitational.
The Rebelettes briefly fell behind in the bottom of the fifth after taking a 12-0 lead to start the game, but they rallied to jump back in front in the sixth inning and held on for a narrow victory.
The win gave the Rebelettes their fourth victory in five games overall as they finished the tournament with a record of 3-1.
Franklin County head softball coach Kelly Kennedy said that her offense really stood out in both of her team’s wins on Saturday with contributions across the entire roster.
“It was absolutely electric. I think that they came with the mindset to hit. Even when I made substitutions, those girls were swinging the bat, they were making great connections with the ball, and that’s just what we wanted to build on,” she said. “Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve really seen them start to come into their own in their at-bats, and I couldn’t be happier about that.”
The Rebelettes put up 12 runs in the top of the first as the scoring plays for the frame included an RBI double from Alyssa Sherrill, an RBI single from Raelyn Wainwright, an RBI double from Kaitlyn Montgomery, an RBI single from Dalayna Marshall, an RBI single from Ava Yates, a two-run home run from Mollye Casey and a grand slam from Sherrill to cap things off.

The Rebelettes got their next run in the top of the fifth as Miley DeSmet hit into an RBI fielder’s choice to push the lead back up to 13-6.
However, the Lady Owls then scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to shockingly flip the scoreboard and put the Rebelettes behind by a score of 14-13.

Jocilyn DeSmet scored on a wild pitch a few batters later to put the late lead for the Rebelettes at 16-14.
The Rebelettes got their last run in the top of the seventh as Jocilyn DeSmet came through with a two-out RBI single to make it a 17-14 game.
The Lady Owls loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run double then cutting into the lead and putting the potential tying and winning runs in scoring position with two outs, but pitcher Marshall was able to induce a groundout to strand the runners and clinch the one-run victory.
Marshall pitched the first three innings for the Rebelettes and later returned to pitch the final 2 2-3 innings. She finished the day with five strikeouts, 10 hits, one walk, four earned and two unearned runs allowed.
