Fan poll: Summit softball's Tarek Scherr voted Columbia area girls athlete of the week

The votes have been cast and Summit's Tarek Scherr has been voted as The Daily Herald's Columbia area girls athlete of the week for March 25-29.

Scherr finished with 48 votes accounting for 68.57% of total responses. Scherr had four runs, an RBI and a home run last Tuesday before adding two RBIs last Thursday in a 3-2 win over Brentwood.

Summit's Samantha Malcolm came in second with 15 votes, 21.43% of the total. Malcolm was 3-for-3 with five RBIs, two runs and a home run last Tuesday. Third place was a tie between Zion Christian's Pearl Davis and Ashleia Coble, each finishing with 4.29% of the vote. Davis pitched seven innings allowing two hits and striking out 15 batters on Tuesday. Coble went 2-for-2 with six RBIs, two doubles and a stolen base in a 16-0 win. She also pitched a three inning no-hitter, striking out seven batters on Monday.
