The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Wilson Central Lady Wildcats 7-1 at Crockett Park Saturday in a quarterfinal game for the Silver bracket at the Brentwood Invitational.
A five-run third inning from the Lady Wildcats put the Rebelettes in a hole that they weren’t able to work out of as they were eliminated from the bracket with the loss.
The Rebelettes scored the first run of the contest as Alyssa Sherrill hit a two-out RBI double in the top of the first to bring Emma Owens around to score.
That early 1-0 lead lasted until the bottom of the third when the Lady Wildcats scored five runs in the inning with all of those scores coming with two outs in the frame.
The Lady Wildcats added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to boost the deficit up to 7-1.
The Rebelettes weren’t able to produce any baserunners in the fifth or sixth inning, and the game hit its time limit midway through the bottom of the sixth as they lost by six.
Kaylee Morris pitched the first 3 1-3 innings for the Rebelettes with six hits, two walks, four earned runs and two unearned runs allowed.
Dalayna Marshall pitched the remaining 2 1-3 innings in relief with four hits, two walks and one run allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 5-15 on the season.
Rebelettes 11, Blackman JV 2
The Rebelettes beat the Blackman JV Lady Blaze 11-2 at Crockett Park earlier in the day on Saturday in a first-round game for the Silver bracket at the Brentwood Invitational.
The Rebelettes jumped out to a small lead early and put the game out of reach with an eight-run fourth inning to snap a five-game losing streak.
The Rebelettes got their first run in the top of the first as Sherrill hit a sacrifice fly to score Paislie Edge from third base.
The Rebelettes added to their lead in the top of the second as Jocilyn DeSmet scored off of an error on a ball hit by Kaitlyn Montgomery and Owens hit an RBI single to make it a 3-0 game.
The Lady Blaze answered back early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead back down to 3-2.
After a scoreless third inning on both sides, the Rebelettes turned the game into a blowout with their eight-run frame in the top of the fourth.
The scoring for the inning included Edge hitting an RBI single, Emery Wilkerson, Owens, Edge and Madi Morris all scoring on multiple errors, Mollye Casey recording an RBI single and Owens contributing a two-run single to put the score at 11-2.
The Lady Blaze were held off the board in the bottom of the fourth with the game hitting its time limit before the fifth inning could begin as the Rebelettes won by nine.
Marshall pitched a complete game for the Rebelettes in the victory with three strikeouts, five hits, two walks and two runs allowed.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 5-14 on the season.
Green Hill 6, Rebelettes 1
The Rebelettes lost to the Green Hill Lady Hawks 6-1 at Crockett Park Saturday in their third game for the Brentwood Invitational.
The Lady Hawks scored at least one run in four of five possible innings for the contest with the Rebelettes not being able to match that scoring pace as they ended pool play for the tournament with a record of 0-3.
The Lady Hawks capitalized off of errors from the Rebelettes to score one run each in the first and third innings and make it a 2-0 game early.
The Rebelettes recorded their lone run of the contest in the top of the fourth as Jocilyn DeSmet hit a two-out double and later scored off of a wild pitch to put the score at 2-1.
However, further errors from the Rebelettes defensively led to one run scoring in the fourth inning and three runs scoring in the fifth for Green Hill to grow the deficit up to 6-1.
The contest would hit its time limit in the sixth inning with the Rebelettes not being able to push any runs across in the final frame as they lost by five.
Kaylee Morris pitched the first four innings for the Rebelettes with six strikeouts, one hit and three unearned runs allowed.
Marshall pitched the final inning in relief with one strikeout, no hits, three walks and three unearned runs allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 4-14 on the season.
They will next play Monday at home against Rockvale High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
