Oakland standout ATH Daune Morris commits to USC Trojans

Oakland athlete Daune Morris is headed west once his high school career comes to an end. The Patriots’ standout back has committed to USC per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The 2023 615 Preps Large Class Player of the Year, Morris transferred to Oakland after playing at Red Bank in Chattanooga. He was a phenom in his first year with Patriots playing a pivotal role in leading them back to the Class 6A championship game.

He finished the year as a Mr. Football finalist racking up 2,012 yards on the ground and 36 total touchdowns. He was also Oakland’s leading receiver with 586 receiving yards.

In a year where he racked up several Power Five offers, USC was one of the newer schools to offer Morris prior to his commitment. The Trojans extended an offer to him on March 6 and he announced his commitment following a visit to to the school on April 6.

Per On3’s Industry Ranking, Morris is a three-star recruit and the No. 495 player in the country. The ranking also has him as the No. 27 athlete and the No. 17 player in Tennessee for the 2025 class.

On3 and 247Sports have Morris ranked as a three-star prospect while Rivals has him as a four-star. Rivals ranks him as the No. 8 athlete in the class and the No. 12 prospect for the state.
