Ian Weaver from Lincoln County High School worked the bump for four innings in Falcon Baseball’s 10-5 Lighthouse Classic win Saturday over Moore County. Weaver put 10 strikeouts in the books giving up one hit, one earned run, and two walks.
Lincoln County baseball won three of their four games last week. The Falcons split their district series with Spring Hill, then claimed non district wins over Cascade and Moore County.
The first day of this calendar month saw a double header at home against Spring Hill for the Falcons. Spring Hill won the first bout 4-1.
Lincoln County responded with an 8-0 shutout in game two. It was Ben Davis on the mound in that game who needed just 86 pitches to go the full seven-inning distance and record eight strikeouts.
Thursday night was a dominant 11-1 win for the Falcons over the Cascade Champions. Rhett Persell sent a 2-run bomb over the wall in the bottom of the first inning. Then Lincoln County put the game out of reach with seven runs in the third inning.
The icing on the cake came Saturday against Moore County. It was senior day for six Falcon players. It was also the annual Lighthouse Classic where the baseball program raises funds for a charity, this year for Hayden’s Hope.
The Falcons defeated Moore County 10-5. Seven of Lincoln County’s nine batters reached base safely two times. Sophomore Ian Weaver also shined in his start on the bump with 10 strikeouts in four innings.
The Falcons are 12-7 entering this four-game week. They begin play with a critically important district series with Columbia that could potentially put Lincoln County in the driver’s seat of the district standing
