Senior Colton Key played catcher for the Jackets in the doubleheader with Liberty Creek.

The Trousdale County High School baseball team returned to District 6-2A action Monday with a home doubleheader against Liberty Creek. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets lost both games to fall to 0-4 in the league.

In the first game, the Jackets gave up 10 runs in the first two innings, then five more in the fifth in their 15-4 loss to the Wolves. The hosts did manage to plate four runs in the fourth frame.

The Hartsville boys came up with only three hits that were turned in by Ayden Beal, Kobyn Calhoun and Jake Malmin.

In the second game, Coach Davy Cothron’s boys took a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning, but surrendered six runs in the bottom of that frame, enroute to a seven to three setback.

The Jackets did produce eight hits, but they also committed three errors. Calhoun, Parker Day and Colton Key had two hits each, while Beal and Alex Livingston added one piece.

Livingston, Calhoun and Day did have stolen bases.

On April 4, the Trousdale County boys lost at home to the Macon County Tigers, 8-2. Their bats were as cold as the weather as they could only obtain four hits while committing the same number of errors.

Calhoun, Day, Key and Devan Walford had the hits for the Purple and Gold.

The following day, the Jackets welcomed the East Nashville Eagles to town, but they gave up three runs in the first inning and went on to fall 4-1. The stat sheet revealed that the Jackets had five errors, while garnering only one hit.

Mason Sullins had a single for the hosts.

The Jackets are scheduled to have a couple of district games to start next week — at White House-Heritage on Monday, then hosting the Patriots on Tuesday.
