BLUFF CITY — The Tennessee High softball team clinched the regular season Upper Lakes Conference title after a late offensive onslaught in an 18-0 win over Sullivan East.
Carly Compton and Abby Haga both left the yard in a 14-run top of the seventh. Haga also hit a two-run single in the sixth that doubled the Lady Viking lead from two to four.
Chuckey-Doak 18, West Greene 8
AFTON — Hayleigh Taylor struck out five to get the win, in addition to driving in five runs and hitting 3-for-5. Saniah Atchison, Hailey Williamson (4 RBIs) and Maura Phillips added three hits apiece. Hailey Foshie, Madison Malone and Faith Yokley all had two, as the Lady Black Knights scored 11 runs between the fifth and sixth innings.
Hayley Arnold went 3-for-4 with a double and two run scored to lead West Greene. Alexis Cutshall and Kaylee Willett both had two hits.
Greeneville 7, Grainger 2
RUTLEDGE — Lydia Danell spearheaded the Lady Greene Devils offense out of the three spot, as she hit a solo home run as part of a three-hit game.
Leah Phillips tossed a complete game, allowing just one earned run.
Jaylee Hayes doubled, scored a run and drove in one for the Lady Grizzlies.
J.I. Burton 16, Twin Valley 4
NORTON — Jordan Mooney’s 4-for-4 game (double, triple, three runs) highlighted an offensive outburst from the Lady Raiders. Jordan Bonhert also had four hits, and Shay Henderson finished a home run away from the cycle while collecting four RBIs.
Bonhert got the win out of the bullpen, striking out 10 batters in five innings, as well as just surrendering one run.
Ashleigh Davis hit a pair of singles and scored a run while Dezi Deel doubled once and scored twice for the Lady Panthers.
Eastside 7, Patrick Henry 0
GLADE SPRING — Braelyn Hall tossed a complete game shutout for the Lady Spartans. She allowed just two hits, did not walk a batter, and recorded a dozen punchouts.
Taylor Clay doubled twice and drove in a run, while Haley Frazier had a pair of base hits, as well as two RBIs and a run scored.
Marah Woodlee and Sophia Wright had the two lone hits for the Lady Rebels.
BASEBALL
West Greene 8, Johnson County 2
MOSHEIM — The Buffaloes scored eight unanswered runs, taking a 3-2 lead on Judson Higgins’ RBI triple before Mason McCamey’s solo shot in the fifth. McCamey went 2-for-4 and also hit a triple, with Aiden Willett adding a double.
Braden McCamey went the distance and struck out 14 while scattering four hits, only two after the opening frame.
Johnson County took a 2-0 lead early but couldn’t keep the momentum going. Nathan King went 2-for-3 with a double.
Sullivan East 11, Victory Christian 1
BLUFF CITY — Zach Johnson’s first-inning solo home run ignited the Patriots to a run-rule victory. Johnson had two other hits in the outing, including a double.
Jonah Smith threw all five innings on the mound, striking out five in the process.
John S. Battle 9, Union 8
BRISTOL, Va. — Caden Sturgill scored the game-winning run for the Trojans with the bases loaded in the seventh inning. He also had a pair of hits, including a double.
Elijah Childress hit a bases-loaded triple in the sixth as part of a four-run frame.
Collyn Neff went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for the Bears.
