First Assembly Christian School has hired Shelvie Rose as its next boys basketball coach.

Rose, who spent last season as the Memphis East boys coach, won a state championship at Overton High in 2023. It was Overton's first TSSAA 4A state championship.

Rose spent four years at Overton before leading East least season. At FACS, he will also serve as assistant athletic director in this new role.

“His reputation as a man of great character and integrity precedes him, and we are honored to welcome him to the FACS family," Head of School Dr. Bryan Sanders said in a statement.

The Overton Wolverines head coach Shelvie Rose celebrates a win against the Bartlett Panthers on Feb. 25, 2023, in the region 8-4A quarterfinals at Overton High School in Memphis.

FACS is also coming off its own championship run this past season. Led by former FACS coach Dee Wilkes, the Crusaders won Division II-A state titles in 2022 and 2024. The Crusaders also finished as runner-ups in 2020.

Wilkes took a job at St. George's on April 3 after a 16-year run at FACS.

FACS is positioned to return many of its key contributors from the championship team. Rose has taken jobs in the past that have been rebuilding situations, but he could be better positioned for immediate success at FACS.
