The Franklin County High School boys and girls tennis teams competed in a match Thursday against Community High School in Shelbyville with the Rebels and Rebelettes both picking up team wins.
The Rebels had a complete 7-0 sweep against the Vikings for their sixth consecutive victory to close out the regular season.
In the singles matches on the boys side, Rafa Silva had the widest margin of victory for Franklin County at 8-1, followed by Krish Patel, Meer Patel, Pratham Patel and William Orr with respective winning scores of 8-2, 8-3, 8-4 and 8-5.
In the doubles matches for the Rebels, Orr and Meer Patel beat their opponents by a score of 8-1 while Krish Patel and Pratham Patel won their match by an 8-3 margin.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 6-9 on the season.
The Rebelettes also won their portion of the match by a narrow 4-3 margin over the Viqueens.
The Rebelettes won three of the five singles matches to significantly help their cause for the day.
Leanna Hobbs beat her opponent by a score of 8-0 while Jesse Burris and Sadie Wells picked up wins by respective scores of 8-3 and 8-2.
The other two singles matches were won by the Viqueens with Camryn Ragland and Amelia Maxon both taking 8-1 losses for Franklin County.
The doubles matches for the girls were split for the day with the team of Burris and Hobbs winning their contest by a score of 8-3 while the duo of Ragland and Maxon took a close 8-6 loss.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 5-10 on the season.
Franklin County tennis versus Fayetteville
The FCHS boys and girls tennis teams competed in a match Wednesday at home against Fayetteville High School with every possible matchup being won by Franklin County.
The Rebelettes picked up a 7-0 win over the Lady Tigers in the girls portion of the match to snap a three-match losing streak.
In the singles matches, Hobbs won by a score of 8-0, Zoey Nice-Francis and Burris both recorded 8-1 victories, Ragland picked up an 8-2 win and Maxon beat her opponent in an 8-8 tiebreaker by a score of 7-5.
The doubles matches also both went Franklin County’s way on the girls side with Hobbs and Burris grabbing an 8-3 win while Nice-Francis and Ragland beat their opponents by a score of 8-4.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 4-10 on the season.
The Rebels played a shortened match with three singles contests and one doubles matchup that were all won by Franklin County.
Sam Coldiron and Pratham Patel both won their singles matches by scores of 8-3 while Silva recorded an 8-4 victory for the day.
The lone doubles match saw the team of Pratham Patel and Orr narrowly win by a score of 9-7.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 5-9 on the season.
The members of the FCHS boys and girls tennis teams will next compete Wednesday in the District 8AA singles and doubles tournaments in Shelbyville. The tournaments are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
