Tennessee landed a commitment from Charlotte transfer forward Igor Milicic Jr. on Monday morning, marking Rick Barnes’ third pickup from the portal this offseason. The Vols have also hauled in Ohio State transfer center Felix Okpara and Hofstra transfer forward Darlinstone Dubar.
Milicic will have one season of eligibility as the rising super-senior previously played the last two seasons at Charlotte and the season before that at Virginia. Milicic wrapped up his career with the 49ers averaging 12.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the 2023-2024 season.
Similar to Tennessee’s portal pickup with Dubar, Milicic was on a nightly point-rebound double-double watch last season. Milicic recorded 10 point-rebound double-doubles last season with a handful of games just a few boards or points away from joining that list.
The Rijeka, Croatia, native racked up 20 double-digit scoring games in 31 contests last season including a season-high 26 points against Rice in the penultimate game of the regular season.
Milicic’s versatility on the court is immediately seen while watching his play. Standing at 6-foot-10, the stretch-four forward has a shooting touch around the paint and projects to be a dangerous player while bouncing off of Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler in the pick-and-roll/pop game. The long wing can score in transition, has strong fake-outs in the paint, and can step back to hit from deep.
Milicic took 149 three-point shots during his final season at Charlotte and hit 56 of them, good for a 37.6 percentage from behind the arc.
