The Franklin County High School boys soccer team played the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles to a 3-3 draw at home Tuesday for the team's third tie of the season.
Franklin County carried a small lead into halftime and held a 3-1 advantage midway through the second half, but the Golden Eagles rallied late to tie the score and ultimately force a draw.
Franklin County was the first team on the board as Kevin Hernandez scored off an assist from Isreal Mendez about seven minutes after the opening kickoff.
The Golden Eagles were able to answer back early as they scored with about 18 minutes remaining in the first half to tie the game at 1-1.
Hernandez struck for another goal with about five minutes to go in the first half with Owen Stewart providing an assist on the play to put Franklin County in front once more. It was the second goal of the day and the 26th of the season for Hernandez.
Franklin County led 2-1 at halftime.
Franklin County was awarded a penalty kick about 10 minutes into the second half after Hernandez got tripped up in the goal box, and Alex DeWolfe was successful on the ensuing attempt with his third goal of the year giving his team a 3-1 advantage.
However, the Golden Eagles scored with about 13 minutes remaining to cut the deficit in half, and they scored again with about three minutes left on the clock to tie the score at 3-3.
Neither team was able to score again in the time remaining as both sides settled for a draw.
With the draw, Franklin County moved to 6-4-3 on the season.
The boys soccer team will next play Thursday at home against Columbia Central High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
