Despite hard work by the Tennessee High softball coaching staff and company to make a playable field on Wednesday night, the 3A Regional Final between the Lady Vikings and David Crockett Pioneers will have to wait another day.

Pouring rain put a halt to a 6pm start from Rotary Park, and then after an hour and a half of field work, the game was officially postponed to Thursday after another wave of rain hit the Bristol area.

Now with the fifth meeting between the two squads waiting in the wings, they are each eager to get on the field with the Sectional round coming up on Friday.

For Tennessee High, they look to continue their momentum towards a title.

"It's huge. They're a good ball team and every time we play them it gets harder to beat them. This is a big game for both of us because the winner gets to host this weekend," said head coach, David Boggs. "They're hungry, they're thirsty, they're never satisfied. So that's what makes them fun to work with. They want to win. They just won't accept anything but their very best. They hold each other accountable and hold themselves accountable. They're a special group."

As for the Lady Pioneers, this year has been special to say the least. After cranking out 20 hits in a win over Greeneville in the Region Semifinals, the Pioneers punched their ticket to their first Sectional round in over 30 years.

Win or loss to the Vikings in Thursday's makeup game, they are embracing each moment and eager to get another shot at stealing the crown from the Vikings.

"It's been a great year and for us to culminate so far in doing something Crockett hasn't done in over 30 years is very special. This is a great group and it's a young group with only one senior," said head coach, Alex Dulaney. "This is our fifth meeting with Tennessee High. We've had three really close meetings with them. So we're really looking forward to seeing what we can do. We want that challenge. These girls are eager for that challenge. They're itching to play and itching to come out victorious."
