Grundy County senior linebacker Will Foster signed to play football at the University of the South last Wednesday in a small ceremony at GCHS.
“It is an honor to see Will sign with Sewanee,” head coach Nick Bryant said. “With his hard work ethic, I know Will can make an impact with Sewanee. He is a very coachable player who learns fast. I am looking forward to watching him grow as a player and seeing him play on Saturdays.”
Foster became a two-time first team all-region selection following the 2023 season. In just his second year on the gridiron, was a terror for opposing quarterbacks. Foster paced the Yellow Jackets with 80 total tackles, 48 solo takedowns and seven sacks. He racked up a team-best 16 tackles for loss and recovered a fumble.
In his first season with the Jackets in 2022, Foster tied for the team lead in tackles with 81 and led the team with 8.0 tackles for loss. He recorded seven quarterback hurries and forced one fumble in his rookie year.
The two-sport star also lettered in baseball and played first base for the Yellow Jackets.
Foster is the third Yellow Jacket to sign with a college this year. Fellow seniors Dakota Grayson and Colton Rogers signed with Bethany College and Anderson University, respectively.
The Tigers are scheduled to play five home games at Historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium in 2024. Sewanee is a member of NCAA Division III and the Southern Athletic Association.
