Four Warriors reach state track meet after sectional competition

The Happy Valley Warriors went looking to continue their tradition of sending athletes to the TSSAA State Track and Field Championship in Murfreesboro in the East Class A Sectionals held at Eagleton Academy in Maryville.

At the end of the day, the Warriors sent four Warriors to the state event finding success in the field events.

In the Boys’ Pole Vault, Happy Valley sophomore Tyler Bailey captured the top spot as the East Sectional champion with a vault of 11-06.00.

A pair of Pigeon Forge athletes finished second and third while South Greene’s Nolan Weems finished fourth with an even 11-00.00 effort.

Happy Valley’s Julian Pate qualified as an at-large state qualifier thanks to his effort of 11-00.0.

Junior Kaydence Carroll captured first place in the Girls’ Triple Jump event with a leap of 34-07.25 earning a trip to the state finals.

The final Warrior state qualifier was Josephine Zeoli who earned a second-place finish in the long jump with a 15-06.0 effort. Sale Creek High School athlete Eisa Ellerton took first with her leap of 16-09.5.
