Elizabethton head baseball coach Presnell named school's next Athletic Director

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WCYB) — On Monday, Elizabethton City Schools announced that Ryan Presnell will be the next in line to serve as the high school's Athletic Director, effective July 1, 2024.

In taking the position, Presnell will be relieving his duties as the head baseball coach after spending the last nine years at the helm. Prior to his head coaching role, Presnell was a Betsy Baseball Assistant Coach for 6 years, along with being an EHS Football Assistant Coach for 4 years.

Presnell has also taught various subjects over a 12-year span - on top of his crucial role in athletics.

As Athletic Director, Presnell will oversee all aspects of the athletic program, including team management, facility operations, and compliance with system and TSSAA regulations.

"I never thought I would be the Athletic Director at EHS, but God has plans we never aspire to. I am beyond excited to work with the amazing coaches we have in our department and even more excited to interact with the student-athletes from all our programs," said Presnell. "Elizabethton Athletics have a long tradition of fielding classy programs that aspire for excellence not just on the field, but in the classroom as well. I am excited to continue supporting that mission, and I look forward to working in the community to garner the support we need to uphold our fine tradition!"
