games over and done
some people will never get over it didn't go their way. There is nothing anybody can say to change their mind.
Since they could not win on the field in either game all they have is the hater card.
but no matter how much they try to degrade smyrna the facts are simple smyrna played wc twice and won both games and they can post how much they hate smyrna blah blah blah till next fall and it wont change a thing
the class thing to do would be what you players and coach did say good game, good luck and move on.
hard to believe anyone could get worked up over roy rogers happy trails.
when smyrna visits riverdale they always play how much is that doggy in the window over and over - you know how we got them to stop -------- we finally beat them.
it seemed like we had our differences worked out til you posted this. the refs beat us that 1st game..i know it and YOU know it. ya'll dressed out 3 alumni, 2 teachers and a student to ref that game...i think i seen'em get on the team bus afterwards. thats the only time i've ever seen the refs leave through the south end zone gate in the 5 yrs i've been going to the games. and as for this game there aint no telling what would have happened if that ref hadn't have blown that inadvertent whistle in the 2nd quarter. we would have been up 14-7 and had all the momentum that we needed. it would have been a whole different ballgame!! AND everybody knows ya'll wouldn't have beaten Riverdale by 2 measly points in the playoffs last year if they dont beat the breaks off ya'll 49 zip a couple weeks earlier...they pulled a total no show!!...now what??...man, I feel better!!!...lol

Good Luck To both Smyrna and Bearden, Based on what I have heard this year Bearden will squeak by, but
I hope Smyrna wins, just b/c Millington's old coach is the offenesive coordinator for Smyrna, and it would be nice to beat him and let him regret leaving. Reguardless the Millington fans are anxious to see who we will be playing in the State Championship!

maybe you should say something to catwoman then. everyone is letting it go and saying congrats to eachother and she keeps bringing up nonsense. Trust me the players didn't pick happy trails to play actually that was the first time i've ever heard that song.

You know here is my take on this. The whole week before the game yall come on here and talk trash and talk about how Smyrna can't do it WC is on a roll or you cant beat a great team twice. Now after Smyrna proves everyone wrong ya'll just want to get on here and whine. DUBC you played a heck of a game, your a great player and trust me the whole team thinks the same. I just want to see yall get on here congratulate Smyrna. It's not the players fault that they got on the PA and played Happy Trails (which they play every home game). And no one from WC gets on here and talks about how they bad mouthed Smyrna during the game trust me I was on the field and heard and even got remarks said to me. It's just crazy how when you lose you find so many things to cry about

who's whining?...and there was a select few on here not giving smyrna their respect. most of the trash talking came from ya'll, and your players....our players aren't allowed on here...and I dont think they should be...this sites set up in my opinion strictly for fans. .i've already said my "congratulations" ...dont hold everyone accountable!

I' m not sure...we started 3 this year that I know of. they'l be plenty on the 2nd team though so they should atleast get some playing time.

actually, I think the only ones were McChurch and Majors...Majors hadn't carried the ball that much all season but I guess we still had some guys banged up with ankle injuries. I think Shannon(#1) only had one carry cause hes still hurting a little bit. The only DB were losing is Conner...the rest are Juniors...so yea, I think our defense might even be better....We still could use some depth. I have a feeling that a lot of those kids that quit back in the spring and summer will be coming back out this year!!... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Sounds to me it sums up the end of a ballgame pretty well...
It's not that the songs bad...it's the context that you guys used it in...ya'll turned the pa up a couple notches when our kids were down in the endzone...most of'em still crying and coaches was having to scream just to address the team..and the only words of it that ya'll played was "Happy Trails"...thats all...good luck friday!

watch the video on this play. your qb would have been tackled 10 yards short of the first down. the inadverdent whistle hurt smyrna more than wc. the qb was no where near " running down the sideline wide open."
Alright, I seen the tape...there aint no way Wilkes wins that battle...that was a touchdown...It doesnt matter though, the games over...you guys won....like I said earlier, we'll be back next year, our kids got a taste of it and hopefully we'll have a good off season and come out in the spring ready to go. We dont lose near as many people as everyone else does. As long as we can keep our coaches in place we dont have nothing to worry about. Good luck in the next round.

I think we'll be ok. Anytime you lose a 3 yr starter or in our case a couple 3 year starters your gonna suffer a little bit but I think we have the guys that are ready to step in. We've got a pretty strong junior class. Ross Strongs a really good athlete, he should be able to step right in at qb.(hopefully)....I dont think we lost near as much as everyone else does...I'd say a 2nd seed...maybe a 3rd....we'll be back in the playoffs though for sure!!... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

For the last time; Smyrna had to go over to Ravenwood's sideline to get the Hats for winning State. If you people weren't so naive and forgetful then maybe you'd remember. And I guess we can also just forget how un-sportsmanlike the Ravenwood faithful had been the whole game, chanting "kill kill kill" and cheering when our players were hurt.
As far as the PA announcer playing that song as the game was over, um..I don't really see a problem in playing a song that says happy trails..but if you wanna be ticky tack about everything then thats fine too. Lol..Smyrna not being classy..thats the funniest thing ever, stop being sore loser and be proud for the kids at W.C. no matter what nothing can/will change the outcome of the game. This will just overshadow what a great season they had. Gosh I hate sore losers.

my view/my opinion
wc has lots of athletes and their offense usues all of them to their max
mcchurch is a heck of an athlete and majors runs hard and is tough to tackle one one one
where wc got hurt was they did not complete a pass till the last minute or so. All those play action and flea flickers went for nothing and smyrna was well preparred and in great position.
wc had the ball and great field position virtually the entire 1st half and came away with only 7 points. They also mis managed the clock and time ran out before they could try a chip shot field goal. The 1st half was where they probably lost the game.
Smyrna made good defense adjustments the second half and were in better position to make the play.
oh yea
This is 2nd quarter finals in a row that smyrna has only given up 7 points and shut out the opponent for the last 3 qtrs playing bend dont break defense. Several wc runs for 10 or 15 yards would have been tds against a lot of teams but smyrna has toi much speed on defense.
biggest plays of the game
1. smyrna getting a stop on wc the 1st drive of the 2nd half
2. sonny hitting rod for 55 yards on the opening drive of the 3rd qtr that set the tone and the drive ended up with a td
3. after our kicker kicking 2 kickoffs out of bounds and wc taking a re kick instead of the ball at the 35 our kicker kicks the kick off of his life and we make a one on one tackle inside the 20.
In the end smyrna never panicked and made good adjustments at halftime. despite trailing to start the game smyrna just kept playing and kept their focus and against a team that has the athletes wc does that is saying something.

By the way great crowd tonight the place was more than full and wc brought a huge crowd that was very loud.
probably the biggest play of the night was when our qb faked a hand off up the middle and rolled out and was running all by himself down the sideline..but wait a second...an inadvertent whistle...you have GOT to be kiddin me. we faked the refs out!!!...lol....oh well...its just a game. we shouldn't have put ourselves in that position. you guys done what you had to do to win...it wasnt all the refs...we got inside the 20 twice and came away with nothing. im not sure why we didnt pass more. we pretty much moved the ball at will but just couldn't find the end zone. our qb's one of the toughest kids I've ever been around. he played the entire 2nd half with a broken nose. were gonna miss him a lot.
oh yea, I though it was really sweet of you guys to play happy trails on the pa as loud as it would go when all of our players were crying out on the field after just getting their hearts ripped out....it reminded me a lot of the championship game last year when all your guys ran over there and taunted all the ravenwood players and fans...real classy...keep up the good work!!!.... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
We dont have nothing at all to be ashamed of guys...ya'll played with all the heart in the world this entire season when nobody gave you a chance to do anything. ya'll proved a lot of people wrong and thanks to everyone of you guys for putting Central back on the map...I know it hurts now but we've got a lot to look forward to. Thanks guys for one heck of a ride!!!

It is amazing that for the 3rd week in a row folks in the area are once again doubting smyrna.
No playing the no respect card that would be silly but

Now this week all we here is wc is on a roll and smyrna will not be able to stop their offense or match their speed.
Most dont even really think it will be close I mean how could it after the whippin wc put on riverdale.
other than 2p not a single poster has posted one comment about what smyrna brings to the table. This may be news that has been lost on the wc bandwagon but smyrna has a pretty good football team and can score points as well as anybody. The last game against wc 7 possesions 4 tds and 1 missed fg.
Nothing like being the defending state champion playing on your home field and virtually every person outside smyrna picking you to lose.
Doubt all you want but Smyrna is not going to give up that trophy without putting up a fight

The student section will be proud and loud. I have a car full already and trying to organize other parents to transport. Too bad it's over Thanksgiving otherwise we maybe could have gotten a bus load or two like we did for Riverdale a few weeks ago.

they will need about 22 new people to step up ... there senior class was a good one and a big one... mj will be young next year... alot of sophmore starters... we will see how the small seinor class to be will step up and become leaders... cause all of the leaders are leavin the team this year
crazier things have happened though. we've only got 10 or 12 seniors on our team. we start mostly juniors with a couple sophomores. with good coaching sometimes you cant tell who is who. you guys are gonna be alright.

This will be a great game. I am very proud of Wilson Central. Folk had them listed at last place coming into this season. They are truly the Cinderella team of the year! It sure gives me hope that Oakland can pull off the same dream next year. You guys are an inspiration. I truly think that Coach Elrod is the catalyst for this turnaround at WC. He is truly a MASTER of the wingT. He rejuvenated this team, yet is as humble of a man that you could ever meet. Truly a fine person and motivator. In no way am I discounting Coach Aric in any way. He has assembled the BEST Staff ever. I just know that these players believed in Elrod's playcalling and system and when he left last yr, he took the confidence from this group of players. When you lose, the finger pointing and doubting comes into play. WC is a product of that. Elrod came back, and you see the result. Of course we can not forget that WC has a DC that seems to fly under the radar. He has done a superb job and his adjustments made last night at the game were the right ones. I watched him last night, and he does his job with class.....not a fireball on the sidelines by any means, but the players have total respect for him and his playcalling and it shows. He is very classy. I heard he is a product of Lebanon. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blush:" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
I know that WC is very proud of this team and this program. They have suffered many ups and downs over the years and you can't help but root for them. Folk know that I have always liked an underdog and have cheered for WC even at their lowest points and when they were on the state losing streak. They are proof that when you continue to fight against all odds that the impossible can be achieved. Ok, I admit it.....I am a s ucker for the impossible dream.
I really really really like McCurch. Those 2 brothers have been dynamos the last few yrs and clearly playmakers. They do the job without ceremony or ego. Truly kids who LOVE the game, and that is what it is all about. TRULY exciting to watch. McChurch took this team on his shoulders last night and they fed off his intensity and drive. I hope he plays college football closeby b/c I would enjoy watching him play on Sats.
Hey Cat.....you jumped me when I said that I thought McChurch was the best QB in the region about midway through the season when we were picking All Region candidates........he has made things happen....esp for a kid who was not under center til this yr.......!!! I sensed something special in him. What do you think now?
I have all the respect in the world for Sonny Gray and think he is a natural athlete and a true competitor, but the McChurch kid just has something really special.......magical....and I can't help but want him to win.
I remember the first time we beat Riverdale.....it is a joyous feeling. That was radiated all over that stadium last night. I even wanted to rush the field. hahahaah

smyrna knows wc is not cookeville or lc on offense or defense
wc knows smyrna is not the 2 running teams they have played.

*wc is on the same page and hitting on all cylinders. Smyrna was very fortunate to get out of there with a win.
*wc is playing about as good as anybody I have seen the last half.
they are fast and have good team chemistry and have played riverdale once so they will be more prepared this game.

And what magic do you think WC can pull out of there hat that will change the outcome from the last game. Just becuase you ran up the score on a week Coffee County team that shouldnt have even been in the playoffs doesnt mean you can bring that to Tomahawk Stadium. Remember, it was purely luck and a tipped passed that was the only reason Smyrna got by them last year and WC doesnt have enough magic in there bag to make that happen.

I agree wc is ON A ROLL and is probably about a 14 to 17 point favorite.
However Smyrna doesn't have much choice they will have to get ready and give it a shot this friday and see if they can make a competitive game out of it.
wc - every prognosticator in the state says they are the best team in the state right now as do all wc fans.

what are you talking about. im a Wc fan. I wrote that at the beginning of the week talking about how they struggled against warren county. i have nothing but respect for RD. their where every team and program wants to be. they play at the highest level..year in and year out. this loss wont keep them down. they'll be right back in it next year.
