  1. Looking at the layout for the park, it doesn't appear that there are stands for fields 3 and 5, which is apparently where the girls will be playing.  In fact, according to the website, those fields arent even 11v11 size.  I wonder if they have changed the layout for the tournament?  But I am with you, there ought to be a lot of parents and support at the games, much more than a rec or select tournament, you would think they would have ample space on the sidelines for said support.  Please keep us informed when you get there!

  2. ND 2

    Grace 1

Deciding goal made in last minute or so. ND had really one defensive breakdown, which led to the goal, but controlled much of the game. Same problem as usual, not finding the back of the net. The Grace parents were really energetic, and ND had a few parents tossed, but I'm truly not sure why. It was a great atmosphere tonight!

  3. Grace is actually a perfect example of a school building a soccer culture well before the high school years.  They don't have elite facilities for soccer, unless you count having a field, and perhaps a few bleachers.  They start them early in soccer, and it is paying off.  In fact, thinking about the A/AA privates in Chattanooga, I can't think of any of them having elite facilities in soccer, with perhaps the exception of CCS, which was really for football.  I have coached kids in all of these schools, primarily the ones leading up to ND and the schools are building a culture of soccer, and the kids want to be a part of it.  It isn't the facilities, it's the pride.  And yes, they train 300 days a year.  And yes, because they are part of small schools, they also populate the track team, the softball team, etc.  So we have a bunch of soccer players running track, which means our track teams don't usually excel.  I guess that isn't fair to us, but we don't make a habit of complaining about shortfalls due to our low enrollment.  Sometimes it just sucks being a small school.  Anyway, best wishes for your school and the kids that represent it.

  4. Yes, I'm eagerly awaiting the TSSAA to carve out another division, filled with girls soccer only schools, who have to use athletes from other sports to fill the team, and don't have a soccer establishment within 50 miles.  That will level the playing field.  Oh, and since ND can't compete with CAK or KC based on $$$, facilities, players, they really ought to be in a different division, too, since that isn't really fair to us. Don't forget the suburban public schools, filled with talent rich soccer players.  They are out, too!  And the urban magnet schools, they recruit! I am actually seeing where you are coming from.  There should be 50 divisions, so everyone has a fair chance against schools that most resemble them.  Utopia in high school sports!  It can happen!!!

  5. I can say, with much due respect, that I have been excited to see what Grace would look like this year.  Their middle school team has been tremendous the past few years, beating our girls at St Jude for the title 2 out of the past 3 years.  They are loaded with club players, like ND.  They have a great middle school system, like ND; and passionate parents, like ND.  I can tell you with great certainty that the girls at ND, at least the ones from St. Jude, are anxious to get another shot at Grace.  I'm happy that Grace has performed so well and lived up to the potential that you just knew was there.  Whether or not they schedule the world-beaters is another story for another day, they could prove themselves to be world-beaters in the coming month.

    But let's hope not.

    Go Irish!

  6. It seemed that the Irish really had control of that game, despite conditions, but you have to take your hat off to the goalie from Silverdale. She was really fantastic, a great mixture of size, instinct, speed and strength.

Perhaps one of you ND fathers (past or present) can help me out here. One thing that makes me a little nervous going further is the depth for ND. Am I mistaken, or did Carey play the entire game? It appeared that there were only minimal substitutions. I have been to a lot of the games this year but don't remember seeing so many clean uniforms on the sideline. Is this an issue, or am I misguided? Or both?!?

Did I miss the invitation for all teams to come out to your house for a cookout ?

I'll help Mapquest your house for you, and put it on here for everyone...what time were you thinking ???...an early dinner before the ND game, or late night party for afterwards???...of course, the other teams can probably make lunch also, if it isn't too much trouble...it appears they would not miss you at work, since you seem to have all of this freetime....

(Gotta love the attention to detail in your Mall Plan...)

David, you also missed that the cookout is for local posters from CoachT.com, as well. Are the ribs going to be pork or beef, Don?
