  1. This game should be exciting to watch. PC seems to be on a roll right now, and we need someone who can hang with Alcoa. I'll have to pick PC in a close game, But i also picked Smith County over PC. Dont see the cougars going down by 40 /////////// GO COUGARS //////////

Definition of insanity picking against "The PEARL-COHN FIREBIRDS" over and over never being successfull.

    #nuffsaid

  2. Got on here to find out just what happened to SC last nite, I know PC is not 40 points better? But i see a lot of Whinning and smack talk Just like it is on the GP Seq Co thread. Why can't fans except a loss with respect. I say not true fans

Your right I was at the game, they looked 60 points better.

  3. Not saying Brunetti doesn't work hard to get players to college. You said he's BY FAR the best coach in metro. Sending out a bunch of game film doesn't make him the best coach in metro and most coaches go above and beyond the pitiful stipend given for coaching (but then you probably have no idea how much they actually make). It's great that there are people like you out there to pick up the slack for the rest of the slackers filling the head coaching spots in metro, though. BTW..."theirselves" is not a word.

Im sorry for theirselves. Pretend it was themselves.

Bact to the Subject. Out of all the current Metro head football Coaches who could you say is better, and why since Brunetti isn't to you.

  4. The team that I believe will make the deepest push in Metro/Nashville this upcoming season is Pearl-Cohn :?:

The Firebirds return just about everyone from a team that is 1 yard at David Lipscomb away from winning the District Championship this past season. They return all of their skilled guys on offense. They also return a line that got better and better as the season progressed on both sides of the football. On defense they return 3/4 of their secondary. If they can somehow replace 2/3 of their linebackers who are graduating in 2 months then they can be a team that makes a deep run in the playoffs and possibly plays Alcoa for the Class 3A State Championship.

I say that because the west half of the playoff bracket in 3A this next season appears to be somewhat "down". Milan, Smith County, York, & Camden Central all suffered some tough losses to graduation and I look for a possible matchup between Pearl-Cohn & Manassas (who returns 2 outstanding backs in 2010) in the state semifinals to determine who comes out of the western half of the bracket.[/quote

They also have some great talent coming from Bass Middle.

  5. Bruno is the best Coach in Metro by far, and that statement goes far beyond the record as stated above. thats a place with limited resources, no big booster program, and he's not looking for the next job that guaruntees him more money. Also he helped his nephew Barry get that scholarship to WVU. I'll bet alot of money that no Metro coach has put more in college than Brunetti since he's been head coach. :?:

...and you're basing this off of your inside, deep knowledge of every coach in Metro? How can you make a statement like that if you haven't spent time with every coach and every program in the city?

I talk to alot of these players here in metro. The majority feel like their coaches dont not really care for them outside of winning a State Title. So I have had to talk to them about getting game film and sending it to colleges for theirselves. Im not saying that all coaches dont care, I'm saying in my opinion Brunetti goes far above and beyond his metro salary to get his players exposure in camps to scouts and a chance at a scholarship.

  6. 5 Down 5 across is the steps it takes to get something accomplished in Metro. Before anything is accomplished it has to go through 5 or more people before anything is even though of being accomplished.

Example: Lets say I want to buy fertilizer for the practice field. Before I can get money to buy I have to go throught the Ad, then the ad to the principal, the principal to the head secretary who does the money, who writes the check, back to the principal to sign the check, then back to the ad who will tell me that I am spending too much on fertilizer for a practice field. It makes more sense for me just to go buy the fertilizer and bring the receipt and let the secretary right me a check. But thats not how its done in Metro.

Thats just an example, there are far worst situation

but the main problem is funding. and it starts at the middle school level. metro will only pay for 2 middle school football coaches and we have 65 boys wanting to play. We cant afford to pay other coaches be on our staff to help develope young players to be successful at the next level. In case of an emergency to one caoch the other is left to run practice with all 65 players. Only in metro is this OK.

  7. Tony Brunetti has done a good job at Pearl-Cohn. Here are some stats to support that argument:

1.) 27-22 overall coaching record (including 2 seasons of 10+ wins)

2.) 2 appearences in the state semifinals

3.) 2 playoff wins over White House, 1 playoff win over Station Camp, 1 playoff win over Sycamore, 1 playoff win over Polk County, 1 playoff win over Chattanooga Howard

    4.) 2 Co-Region Championships (2006 & 2007)

5.) Countless players that have gone on to the next level with his help to play football and receive a free paid for college education in the process

NOW WITH THAT SAID WHO ALL HAS APPLIED FOR THE VACANT JOB AT EAST LITERATURE?????

  8. Maplewood 40 /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    Haterslane 06

    and thats all I got to say about that. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  9. Rossview hoste Maplewood Friday the final score was 7-7 Maplewood and Rossview both had the size and speed and virtually matched 1st team vs 1st team.....John Stone was solid on the line for Maplewood as was Shawn Kelley in the backfield for Rossview and a trio of quarterbacks in Eric Simon,Thomas Burks, and Drew Padgett. So what does this mean for the Hawks this season how do you predict them in region 6-4A this year. They host DCA this Friday.

    Heres my pick:

    Beech

    Rossview

    Clarksville

    Mount Juliet

    Portland

    Northwest

    Springfield

    RELAX IT'S JUST A SCRIMMAGE /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  10. Go head to head tonight. If you're not doing anything, come out and check out a pretty entertaining ball game. I think Antioch will win, but Maplewood is playing well right now.

Get ready for the greatest dunk contest of the year.

this game reminds me of Pearl-Cohn/ Whites Creek 96-97 & 97-98.

    I will have my popcorn ready /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  11. Hands down Taj Wells & Robert Wade

when antioch played maplewood at antioch taj wells jumped to catch an oophe jumps so high i thought he was going upstairs in the gym to find a seat up top. but to my surprise he kept going and gave a couple of angels high-five before he came back down to dunk.

    i'm for real

    not smiling at all

anybody there that night wont tell you anything less.

  12. This is one of the more intellegent topics on this board...

But if you are looking for power you have to see Collins Ukwu up on the rim...

He's the 6'5" 235lb DE from LaVergne--who doubles as a nice PF for the Wolverines come basketball season...

Whoooooo he can rock the rim!

iwas at the game last night agianst Mcgavack and did not see him

  13. hey phillyfan and mtwatcher

    check the stats

    Antioch 71 Hillsboro 36

    9 days later

    Maplewood 73 Hillsboro 57

If your impressed by the burros you need to check out Antioch, Maplewood, Laverne, and McGavock.

after you watch those teams play then tell me what you think about Hillsboro /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  14.

Maryville would have THUMPED Smyrna last year. This year it would be hard to say. I would never pick against a George Quarels coached team though. Maryville was not the most talented team in the state this year. I would venture to say there was a minimum of 10 teams in the state that had better talent then Maryville including Maplewood.

I agree maryville teams in the past were way stronger and bigger also but i believe it would have been close this year

  15. panthers hang your head high cause when you look down it ain't that big of a difference between being number 2 and 1.

even with the loss TN will now understand Maplewood is for real. this game was better than what the fight will be later on tonight. both teams did a great job.maryville triple passes and trick plays worked at the right time. maplewood you shut them down straight up. anytime teams use the trick plays its because you had the beat strait up. I'm not trying to discredit the rebels. to the rebels coaches and players congrats you won the game and that's all that matters. and to everybody that posted a landslide and did not give maplewood a chance .......... well I know for a fact your opinion of maplewood football has changed.
